12 apr THE VALUE OF SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH
Although we have more anecdotes than we can dream of when it comes to the positive effects of a plant-based diet on dogs, we of course recognise the value of science and acknowledge that in this day and age it is important not only to provide anecdotal material aka experience but also to back up a position with scientific research. So for DOG.EAT.PLANT. we went all the way. We interviewed experts, read all the science, backed up every sentence and quote with data, and collected many personal stories from people about their furry friends who follow a plant-based diet.
But there can never be enough data, so thank heavens for people like Andrew Knight who, as a vet, specialist, and researcher, has been at the forefront of the vegan dog & cat movement for many years.
With a plant-based diet for dogs gaining more and more ground, we’re glad to see that Andrew has done another study. This time, the study of caretakers of over 2,500 dogs examined the links between dog diets and health outcomes, suggesting that nutritionally sound vegan diets may be healthier and less dangerous than conventional diets.
This is the first such large-scale study to be published in a scientific journal – PLOS ONE in this case – on the subject and more research needs to be done, but as we will be sharing super exciting news regarding DOG.EAT.PLANT. ourselves very soon, we couldn’t be happier.
Andrew Knight congrats!
